Chopra Wrote To Playboy With The Idea
In nearly 60 years of photographing and showcasing naked women, Playboy has never had an Indian cover model. Until now. Sherlyn Chopra, bikini model and Bollywood temptress, is set to appear nude in the men's magazine this fall.Chopra, 28, will be the first woman born in India to appear naked in Hugh Hefner's publication, sparking both pride from Chopra and controversy in her conservative country where Playboy is banned.
Says one critic, "At a time when innocent women across the nation ... have been subjected to sexual abuse and humiliation, one wonders if Sherlyn Chopra's pictures wound a woman's integrity."
Chopra, who wrote to the magazine and pitched the idea herself, says she is proud to have the opportunity to pose nude for "the world's most established adult magazine."
"I have become the first Indian to pose naked for Playboy," she told the BBC, "and nobody can take away that achievement from me."
A seasoned bikini model, Chopra can be seen all over the internet wriggling on the beach in skimpy bathing suits. But most of her photos are so airbrushed you can barely tell it's her.
